About Me

Hello,

My name is Eider and I am an English teacher at Antonio Trueba High School in Barakaldo. The aim of this blog is to teach English in a funny way through videos, songs, games, podcasts or films just to do it a little bit funnier. 

I love travelling, specially to English speaking countries. I like speaking English with different people around the world in order to learn about different accents, vocabulary and above all the culture difference.

Vocabulary in English is quite difficult, there are so many words in this language that sometimes we get overwhelmed. With the help of an online dictionary, you are going to find 50 challenging words that your classmates probably don't know (don't be too mean) and their definitions. After that, using Crossword Generator you will create your own crossword in order for you classmates to do it online. It´s funny, isn't it? 

Grammar Time

Grammar is always boring, but today we are doing some exercises online using ChompChomp webpage. In order to study the irregular verbs by heart, let´s start by practicing them in a funny way. What was your score?

Do you want to go to a Theme Park? Today, we are going to create your dreamt Theme Park. Using the following web page you are going to design in groups of three your ideal Theme Park. Your brochure must have:

Creating a Timeline

We are going to learn about English and American history and that is why, in pairs you are going to create a timeline. You are going to choose one historical event and through TimeLine Creation you will create a timeline and after creating it, in pairs you are explaining it to the rest of the students. 

Quiz Game

Today we are going to be in four groups of four people and you are going to create one quiz using the following web page. You are going to be the teacher, and in groups you are going to think about different questions divided into categories (ex. sports, science, literature, cinema and so on) and after creating the quiz, we are going to play it during one session time.

Practising Pronunciation

Pronunciation is one of the most difficult things to learn in the English language. I am going to show you an interesting video with the top 10 most mispronounced words in English. Watch the video and tell me, do you pronounce these words correctly?

Let´s work a little bit. In pairs, you are going to think about three words that you think non-native English speakers pronounce them incorrectly. Then, in groups the students will guess the correct pronunciation of the words given.

Create a Story

Today we are going to create a story using the following web page Story Jumper.

Using this online tool, you are going to make up a story in pairs. You are going to decide what type of story you are going to write about:

• Hero Story
• The Monster Story
• Flat Friend Story

Through this tool, you will be able to invent one story using different pictures, colours, shapes or type writing. It is going to be a funny way to show the rest of the students your own story. 

After finishing writing the story, you are going to tell it to the class.
